Stellar: What My Brother’s Death Taught Me About Living

When her New York firefighter brother fell ill after 9/11, nutritionist Michele Chevalley hedge realized that all the green smoothies in the world would not be able to help.

My brother Greg was six-foot-four [195cm] and bulletproof. Greg was a firefighter in New York City and was at the scene on that awful day, September 11, 2001. In fact, he was one of the first responders - a real-life hero.

Greg was my little brother, but to me, he was larger than life. He had a great energy about him and was one of those guys everyone is drawn to. Girls wanted to be with him and guys wanted to be like him. He was fit, funny and had a wickedly dry sense of humour. He had a fantastic wife, Lisa and together they had two beautiful sons, Cooper and Ryder.

This is an edited extract from Eat Drink & Still Shrink by Michele Chevalley hedge (Macmillan Australia, $34.99), which is out on Tuesday.
